On 1940-05-28, Pilot A C Deere (Pilot Officer, RAF) with an unknown servicenumber, flew a Spitfire I with serial N3180, nickname Kiwi1 for this duty: Patrol.
He flew over the evacuation beaches near Dunkirk. First Deere shot down two ME-110 before his force landed near Nieuwport. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 54. The location for the map is Nieuwport, Belgium. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Deere: he was safe. There is no commemoration location known.
Deere was the first pilot shooting a ME-109 (with Uffz H.Gilbert, still missing). Deere became famous during the Battle of England with 22 kills. In 1965 he left the RAF as Air Commodore.
