10 The Highland Light Infantry passing Osnabruck
In passing through OSNABRUCK, we were able to see again at first hand the devastating effect of the work our heavy bombers had done 0)1 the German cities. Large areas of the town, especially near the railway yards, were completely laid waste and, in many cases, even the streets were obliterated. We began to realise the strategic difficulties of supply and movement that must have beset the Germans.
