LIBERATED ON THE 17TH OF SEPTEMBER 1944, BY THE 506TH PARACHUTE INFANTRY AND ELEMENTS OF THE 326TH AIRBORNE ENGINEERS. THIS TOWN WAS THE COMMAND POST OF THE 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION DURING THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF THE HOLLAND CAMPAIGN.
