Avro Lancaster I (W4275 SR-C) on a mission to Koln on 1943-07-09
On Thursday, 08 July 1943, (a part of) the aircraft of the 101 squadron (RAF), took off for a mission to Koln in Germany from a station (airfield) in or near Ludford Magna.
One of the crew members was 1575404 Flight Sergeant J A Borton. He departed for his mission at 22:37.
He flew with a Avro Lancaster (type I, with serial W4275 and code SR-C). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Friday, 09 July 1943.
The crash site is about 500 meters from the church up a small country lane. There is a bungalow on the right in a slightly elevated field the crash site is where the bungalow is now. See pictures.
