Flight of Typhoon Ib MN767 and Squadron Leader M G Plamondon on 1944-10-28
On 1944-10-28, Pilot M G Plamondon (Squadron Leader, RAF) with an unknown servicenumber, flew a Typhoon Ib with serial MN767 C for this duty: unknown operation. His mission was not completed. Circumstances of the aircraft loss: Force landed at Merxem. Plamonden Joseph was born August 8, 1919 in Quebec. He joined the RCAF February 10, 1941 and began the training in STI 3 continues to EFTS 4 and ends at 15 SFTS getting his pilot qualification along his officer's stripes on November 21 1941. Remained in Canada until 1943, he won the UK in May and serves with 198 Squadron equipped with Typhoon. In spring 1944, he became a Flight Commander before taking in August the command of Squadron 193 . He was awarded the DFC on September 5 before having to make a forced landing with the Typhoon MN767 / DP C on October 28, after being hit by flak near Merxem. He finished his tour of duty the following month and returned to Canada in July 1945 before leaving the RCAF September 1, 1945. He received a Bar to his DFC February 27, 1945. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 193. The location for the map is Merksem, Belgium. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Plamondon: he died, but circumstances of death are unknown. There is no commemoration location known.
