Handley Page Halifax I II (MZ335 KN-R) on a mission to Ludwigshafen on 1945-01-03
On Tuesday, 02 January 1945, (a part of) the aircraft of the 77 squadron (RAF), took off for a mission to Ludwigshafen in Germany from a station (airfield) in or near Full Sutton.
One of the crew members was Flight Sergeant C E Foster. He departed for his mission at 15:04.
He flew with a Handley Page Halifax I (type II, with serial MZ335 and code KN-R). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Wednesday, 03 January 1945.
Rod McPherson: Halifax MZ335 code KN-R (p20-Halifax losses) is wrong. From production records MZ335 was a B MkIII built by London Transport circa April 44 and not a B MkI series II as stated. These would not be flying with 77 Sqd. late in the war.
Information about aircraft who did not return from this mission can be found here. Information about the other crew members on this flight can be found at this website (Aircrew Remembered). This website also provides the flight information for this record.
