At the date of 26-11-1944, time: 1351, the aircraft type B-17 has been lost. The location of the plane was found at: Velswijk (8 km N Doetichem). The unit of crew and plane is: 398BG/600BS. First flyer rank: 1st Lieutenant, name: K.R. Pope. The plane belonged to the Allied forces.
While sifting through my great-aunt's photo collection, I found the attached picture of a crashed B-17, apparently clandestinely made by my grandfather and a friend right after the crash (before the Germans turned up and arrested them for doing so, luckily they were released without much of a hassle). You may be interested to put the photo on your site.

The backside is marked "1945, Velswijk, gevallen vliegtuig in de [...]", meaning "1945, Velswijk, crashed aircraft in the [...]". This leads me to believe it may be 43-37846 from 398BG (https://www.backtonormandy.org/the-history/air-force-operations/airplanes-allies-and-axis-lost/b-17-flying-fortress-/B-1712750.html). The year is off by 2 months, but since the ink is another colour it may be a later addition. Part of the tail number is just readable on the original, but unfortunately my copy is not of a high enough quality to verify it. Next time I visit my great-aunt I'll check it and make a better copy.
