At the end of WWII the 438th Troop Carrier Group, 88th Squadron was picking up forced laborers and POW from Bergen-Belsen (R-16 Hideshiem); Buchenwald (R-19 Nordhousen/Dora-Mittelbau, R-7 Weimer, and R-31 Halle); Flossenburg (R-66 Regensburg); Dachau (R-73 Ergolding, R-48 Inglstadt and R-70 Kaufbeuren). I have been putting together and recording each day where they landed and who they picked up from which camp. According to the histories in a few days in April and April only they picked up from Y-67 Gelnhausen, Germany both US and British POW but I have not been able to figure out what POW camp or concentration camp is in that immediate area. Please let me know if you have any idea what POW camp would have been near Gelnhausen. I have usually been able to figure this out from Google maps and the Holocaust information on the web but for some reason this one is not coming together. Your expertise will be much appreciated.
