Flight of Spitfire I P9337 and Pilot Officer G G A Davies on 1940-08-31
On 1940-08-31, Pilot G G A Davies (Pilot Officer, RAF) with an unknown service number, flew a Spitfire I with serial P9337 for this duty: Patrol. His mission was not completed. Circumstances of the aircraft loss: Shot down over Tenterden. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 222. The location for the map is Tenterden, United Kingdom. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Davies: he was wounded. There is no commemoration location known.

I have just dug out the 49 MU report to which you refer and see that it does indeed confirm P9337 at New Romney as I suggested in my earlier post. Absolute confirmation of the wreckage i/d was also established I am told during the subsequent re-excavation at Map Ref 061255, approx half mile ESE of Hope Farm at a location I have as Cockreed Lane.
The pictures of the restoration of P9337, the aircraft his father was flying, are an addition that I thought he might also find of interest.
