99 Infantry Battalion (Separate) (USA) RAR at Montzen day 5

1944-10-04 · Montzen · Belgium

The story

On the 30th of September the unit moved to a bivouac area near Montzen where the men rested, ate hot food and had entertainment "when it was available". Rain, falling almost incessantly on an area which was a sea of mud and water, made the encampment far from pleasant to the ordinary eye but to the tired men the place was perfect. During the rest period the companies new weapons and adjusted weapons which had malfunctioned in the previous operation.
