The story

August 23, The Belgian Group is the first to move toward the River La Touques, and the towns of Deauville and Pont-l'Evêque. Between the Dives and the La Touques, all the routes on which the 6th Airborne will advance are reconnoitred by the Belgian Armoured Car Squadron. In Pont l'Evêque, the 1st Troop has the honour to fire the first shots. The Engineer Coy clears mines from the 'Holly Meadow' road. The Battery of Artillery is in position near Coudret-Rabu.
