The story

On 1944-08-26, Pilot L T Menzies (Flight Sergeant, RNZAF) with an unknown servicenumber, flew a Spitfire IX with serial PL264 for this duty: Recce. His mission was not completed. Circumstances of the aircraft loss: Crash landed at Torigni sur Vire, Manche. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 602. The location for the map is Torigni sur Vire, Manche, France. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Menzies: He eventually returned to New Zealand, had a family and passed away in 1985. There is no commemoration location known.
