The story
On 1945-01-01, Pilot P Wilson (Flight Lieutenant, RCAF) service number J/9876 flew Typhoon Ib serial PD556 (squadron code F3-Q) for this duty: bombing mission. His mission was not completed. He was taking off as the squadron lead when 90+ Luftwaffe aircraft attacked the base. He aborted take off and rolled off runway, exited aircraft. Was found with bullet wound to abdomen next to aircraft, died an hour later. This aircraft was part of squadron no. 438. The location for the map is B.78 Eindhoven NL. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Wilson: he was killed. He is commemorated at: Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery Netherlands.
