The story

On 1944-07-26, Pilot A Rowley (Flight Sergeant, RAF) with an unknown servicenumber, flew a Typhoon Ib with serial JR446 K for this duty: unknown operation. His mission was not completed. Circumstances of the aircraft loss: Force landed at Caen. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 164. The location for the map is Caen, France. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Rowley: he died, but circumstances of death are unknown. There is no commemoration location known.

Lee Chapman: Albert Rowley's mission to france in Typhoon JR446, it's true that he was shot down nr caen but he did not die. He was very badly burnt and as a result became a member of Sir Archibald McIndoe's Guinea Pig club. I know this as he was my Grandad. Sadly he passed away in 1998. p.s airfix make a model of this actual plane complete with Grandads flight number.
