The story

On 1944-07-17, Pilot R M McKenzie (Flight Lieutenant, RCAF) servicenumber J/11317 flew Typhoon Ib serial MN707 (squadron code F3-E) for this duty: destruction of Orne river bridges. His mission was not completed. He was shot down by flak and crashed South West of Caen. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 438. Circumstances at the end of this mission for McKenzie: he was killed. He is commemorated at: Ranville War Cemetery, France.
