Bomber Command raid - night of 19/20 August 1941

The story

KIEL
108 aircraft - 54 Wellingtons, 41 Hampdens, 7 Stirlings, 6 Halifaxes - to railway targets but icing conditions and thick cloud cover over Bremen resulted in only 67 aircraft claiming to bomb in the target area. 3 Wellingtons and 1 Hampden lost.
Kiel reports heavy rain during the raid, no casualties, 1 house hit by an un-exploded Flak shell and swimming-bath buildings damaged by incendiary bombs. Bombs also fell on the airfield at Holtenau, just north of Kiel.
Minor Operations: 6 Wellingtons and 3 Whitleys to Le Havre, 3 Hampdens minelaying in the Frisians. No losses.

18 Blenheims on coastal sweeps. Ships were attacked but not hit; Texel airfield was bombed. No losses.
